Juanito Enriquez works the rice field near his home in Batia, Bulacan. "In 1986, I voted for Cory." He did not go to Manila to participate in People Power. " I was listening to the radio and watching the EDSA events on television," he said. "When Marcos left, I was expecting changes. We were looking forward to freedom in our daily lives."
Enriquez stands in his living room office in Batia. "I didn't have any plans to run for public office. But when my brother (a politician) got sick, I was encouraged to run as barangay captain. When I won there were some changes in my life. I did my best to help my constituents, especially the farmers like me. I finished the projects that my brother started."
